Next Thursday

Because I saw this somewhere else and now it’s got me curious..if I said right now “We are going here next Thursday” am I referring to the 3rd or the 10th?

Next has the idea of ‘immediately after’ so, if you were speaking on the 1st, you would be referring to the 3rd.

I’m writing this on Wednesday, 29 September, 2021 so

The next day is Thursday

The next month is October

The next year is 2022

The next century is the twenty-second century.

The opposite idea would be ‘last’ - last week, last month, last year.
